Discover these Belgian artists during Klarafestival 2024

This week is Belgian Music Week. So we’re proud to present the home-grown artists who you can see live at work during Klarafestival 2024. From established names like the Belgian National Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic and Muziektheater Transparant, to soloists such as Bram De Looze and Philippe Thuriot, or ensembles such as Dionysos Now! and Ictus. And all this in surprising constellations.

regular guests

Innovation and adventure are embedded in the Brussels Philharmonic’s DNA. This is proven by their concert with singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright or with Schonberg’s compelling symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande.

The Belgian National Orchestra again provides rhythmic fireworks by combining Stravinsky’s masterpiece Le Sacre with Tejas by the late Wim Henderickx.

Muziektheater Transparant kicks off the festival with a special premiere: together with festival artist Claron McFadden and pianist Claire Chevallier, they recreate the sultry climate of interwar Paris, in the form of a ‘live’ radio show.

Masters of improvisation

Klarafestival presents two Belgian soloists who navigate on the crossroads between improvisation and composition. With his accordion, Philippe Thuriot breathes new life into the bewitching keyboard sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti. At Flagey, jazz pianist Bram De Looze will present his fourth solo album Spotting Gateways.

masterly polyphony

Fans of the wholesome, warm sounds of polyphony have also been considered. Tenor Tore Tom Denys and his vocal ensemble Dionysos Now! present a tribute to the 16th-century superstar Adriaan Willaert with his St John Passion.

between concert and installation

Since 2009, Ictus’ hybrid Liquid Rooms has been enjoying huge success across Europe. During Klarafestival they present the tenth edition of this format, this time with a focus on the eccentric oeuvre of Robert Ashley.

Artist Hans Beckers works at the intersection of music and sound art. In La Floresta he explores the relationship between humankind, nature and technology, together with wind players Berlinde Deman and Nathan Daems.
